Is it worth repairing your TV or should you buy a new one?
Here are the quick questions and tips to consider:
1. Repair only Sony, Samsung, or LG because these 3 brands dominate most of the TV market, have parts more easily available, and have advanced the most in technology.
2. Average cost to repair an LED LCD TV IF nothing is wrong with the LCD panel or backlighting is $500-$700 including parts and labor
3. If you spent less than $2,000 on the TV then its better to replace because the repair cost is too close to what a brand new TV would sell for today.
4. If the TV is more than 7 years old do not repair it because the risk is greater that something else will go wrong with it because of the age. Also keep in mind that LED TV technology is much more matured now versus 7 or more years back so the picture quality has dramatically improved.
