Apple Siri Home Speaker
So now that we are nearing closer to June and the annual Apple developer conference is upon us, the rumors are increasing for an upcoming Apple Siri home speaker to be introduced later this year that will compete against Amazon Alexa Echo and Google Home speakers.
According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities, there is a likelihood that Apple will announce the Apple Siri home speaker at the WWDC in June.
According to leaker Sonny Dickson on his twitter account stated ,” Apple is currently finalising designs for their Alexa competitor…”
The Apple Siri standalone home speaker is rumored to feature Beats bass enhancement audio technology with one woofer and seven tweeters.
It may have a cylinder type design similar to the Mac Pro with user profiles for different members of the family so that everyone can have separate things like music, calendars, reminders, and so on.
The Apple Siri home speaker is the last missing device to complete the Apple smart home ecosystem. Apple smart home can control lights, cameras, door locks, thermostat, shades, garage door, irrigation, and more with using one central app from Apple called “Home” on your iPhone or iPad running iOS10 or newer. Besides using the Apple Home app you can also talk to Siri to control your home and do things like telling Siri “I am arriving home” as you are driving up to your home and she will turn on the lights, open up the garage, unlock the door, open the shades, and set the temperature. Currently at Home Technology Expert we have been installing Apple Smart Homes for our clients but being able to use an Apple Siri home speaker on the kitchen counter, Master Bedroom nightstand, or office when your iPhone or iPad is not right next to you is most convenient. Especially if you have kids or guests and they do not have iPhones to control the house.
Even though the Apple Siri home speaker is set to have a superior music sound quality over Amazon’s Echo and Google Home speakers, it still would not be as good as the home theater system for the Living Room or the outdoor speakers that we here at Home Technology Expert install. However at Home Technology Expert we sell and install the most popular and easiest to use Sonos Wi-Fi speakers throughout the house which Sonos has committed publicly to work with Apple Siri voice in the future. Currently you use the Sonos app on your iPhone or smart phone to turn on Sonos, select your music, and adjust the volume, but in the future you will be able to say “Hey Siri, play Adele in the living room” through the iPhone, iPad, or Apple Siri home speaker. Sonos is currently the exclusive speaker company that can work with the Apple Music streaming service including additional services like Pandora and Spotify.
The Apple Siri home speaker will have Airplay built in so that you can play music directly from your iPhone or iPad to it. Although we believe Apple will position their home speaker as a premium device over Amazon and Google we do not know yet how much it will cost. These are exciting times as smart home technology has gotten cheaper and better and we are looking forward to the future release of the Apple Siri home speaker.
